Cyclone Clare hits WA coast

See story here and here
As usual though, the news reports get some things wrong. Dampier is only 12 kilometres from Karratha, so basically, if Dampier got the full force, so did Karratha. But still, for a category 3 cyclone (the worst is category 5), it did quite a lot of damage.
My sister lives in Karratha, luckily they were here in Perth when the cyclone hit. North west towns are prepared for cyclones, but this one has been the first to hit Karratha in 18 years. People were evacuated, because of the threat of tidal surges. The devastation is quite unbelievable. Flash flooding, trees uprooted, houses have lost roofs, boats being smashed against beaches etc. The north west region is quite arid. Very hot temperatures normally, so to see the area flooded is quite unnatural. Roads were closed, bridges totally destroyed.
My sister and her family were lucky to get home tonight. They drove all the way from Perth today, probably an 18 hour drive non stop. The roads had just been opened, but still quite unstable for normal cars. Lucky they have a 4WD. I just received a phone call from her, she's said the town is still totally blacked out, no power anywhere, but satellite phone calls can be made. She's totally lost her garden, her 15 foot high palm trees are no longer there, nor are her banana trees. There's a gum tree in her swimming pool, her back and side fences are totally gone, nowhere to be seen. She can't see the damage done to the house yet, as its just before midnight and there's no power.
It'll be a huge cleanup task for the towns, but thankfully the communities rally around to help each other in times like these. The awful thing is, the Weather Bureau are predicting another rain-bearing depression off the North West coast, that could develop into another cyclone. And the usual pattern is, the cyclones intensify as the season progresses. So this next one could be worse. I'm just hoping and praying it won't be.

Chatter Lawsuit

It baffles me as to what types of lawsuits that are being handed out these days. I thought nothing more could shock me but I was wrong. Today, I found an article about a lawsuit to do with the internet. Someone is suing AOL for allegedly failing to do anything about the abuse he endured in a CHATROOM. Finding it hard to believe as I did? Then read for yourself here!

It's the first of it's kind and I'll be really shocked if anything comes of it. As a Services Administrator (IRCop) on an irc server (oasis.stormirc.net) and a channel op in one of the servers biggest channels, I have to say....LMAO! You gotta be kidding me? Why sit there and read the bullshit someone is typing to you. There is a button at the top right hand corner with an X on it. Why not just click the button and leave the chat? Might be harsh but he's the only one to blame for his 'emotional distress' that accured because of the teasing. Clinking the X does a world of good! and Daniel, if you are reading this...don't bother claiming this in chat the next time I kick you. Get ideas of your own lol

Australian man to be executed in Singapore

Australian man, Nguyen Van Tuong, is to be executed for drug trafficking in Singapore on Friday. Story here: http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200511/s1518488.htm

Basically, the man smuggled around 4 grams of heroin into Singapore. He admitted to smuggling the drugs, because he was trying to help his brother out of financial difficulties. Therefore, being caught, and due to the strict Singaporean drug smuggling laws, is now facing execution.

The Australian government has pleaded with the Singaporean government for clemency. The Singaporeans are not budging. It is their laws, and anyone knows that if you go into Indonesia with drugs, and you get caught, you're in deep shit. Look up the Schapelle Corby story for more. Our Prime Minister, John Howard, has spoken to the Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong, on 4 occasions, during the Commonwealth Heads Of Government Meeting (CHOGM) over the past few days, with no result. There's even an online petition being sent to the Prime Minister of Singapore, which can be found here http://www.australiaunites.net/petition.php if you're interested.

My opinion? HANG THE BASTARD. Anyone who trafficks in that shit should be shot. I don't care if it's here or overseas. They said he had enough heroin for 26,000 shots. That's 26,000 less fucked up junkies in the world. You may not agree with me, but I have NO compassion for fucked up junkies. Just as I have NO compassion for people that smuggle it into Indonesian countries. They know the risks. They know they'll get execution if they're found with it. All these goddam greenies in this country saying he should be given clemency. What for? He did the wrong thing. Who asks for clemency when murderers in America get executed? And as far as I'm concerned, this guy is tantamount to a murderer. I'd be exactly the same if it was a member of my family. The hippies here are asking for 1 minute silence on the morning of his hanging. Sure, do that, and tarnish the memory of the thousands of men and women that gave up their lives for our freedom, because that's the ONLY time there should be minutes silence. Not for some goddam drug smuggler. That's my opinion. Feel free to express your own.

Hurricane Katrina...Additional

First of all, I have to thank Anarchy for this..I was surfing his blog, (link to his blog, Fear and Loathing In Wangavegas, can be found below in the list of links) and found this hilarious clip. http://thinkprogress.org/2005/09/08/cheney-runs-into-trouble-with-the-locals/ I think it pretty much sums up the way the people of New Orleans think at the moment. It's gotta be the catchphrase of the century. Amidst all the suffering and chaos, it's good to know that sometimes we can have a bit of a laugh. Enjoy it.

9/11

While watching a chatroom, I noticed someone bitching about there being alot of documentary programs about 9/11 on TV. Correct me if I'm wrong but this isnt a crime, right? It did effect so many countries. Not just America. So why shouldnt there be a documentary on TV about it? People still think and suffer to this day because of it and it's also educational for the younger generation, who were most likely too young to understand what happened on the actual day.

Most of these people appear to be from Britain. I'm not in any way trying to say that all people from Britain are small minded. I'm from the UK myself...what I'm trying to say is that there can be countless documentary stuff about England losing the World Cup or how the England manager likes to fuck around on his girlfriend, countless amount of news about how people are upset that England aint doing well and stuff...BIG DEAL! In my opinion, that type of news aint worth the time! 9/11 didnt effect me in that I knew someone who died in it, before anyone wants to judge me about my opinion. I do remember, and will remember for the rest of my life, what I was doing on that day.

I just think people should stop bitching and moaning about TV programs that focus on what happened on that day. Would they be less small minded if they knew someone who happened to be in the towers on that day? Would they be effected more if they happened to be there themselves and survived like so many didnt?. It baffles me, it really does!

Hurricane Katrina

Hurricane Katrina

After reading the link above, I talked with some friends about this and call it what you want but I agree with a statement from Luna...

they're all pissing and moaning about looting..people arent looting jewellery shops or stuff like that, they're looting for water and food

Now this I agree with. A small majority of assholes are causing so much grief by taking it upon themselves to shoot at people helping rescue others. They're small minded and only really want to cause more mayhem than has already happened. In my opinion, people looting for food and water should be overlooked. What harm are they actually causing? and the "white people find food and black people loot" WTF IS THIS?? and another question. Indonesia got flood relief. Will there be anything for New Orleans or will it be overlooked because America is suppose to be the most powerful country in the world? Is that what's it's going to come down too? The 100,000 people who decided to stay in the city..did they do so because they couldnt afford to leave? No transport, no help from others. Is this the way we're looking at the world now? Anyone care to leave a view? Do so with a comment, please. I'd be interested to see what people think

Hijackers KNOWN pre-9/11

someone tell me what's wrong with this picture? They knew about the hijackers but did nothing?!

The course of action was said to have been rejected in part because the men were in the US on valid entry visas.

Read it for yourself. It's shocking to say the least! Article
There's also inquiry and reactions to read. there are a few other links on that page for you to browse

Briton faces extradition after U.S. hacking allegations

While away this weekend, I bought a paper I never normally buy. The only reason for buying it was for the free Only Fools And Horses DvD. While waiting for my friends to finish getting ready, I sat down with the paper and started thumbing through it. I came across an article about Gary McKinnon. A Scottish guy (in some papers they say he's english), who managed to hack into NASA computers and the like. I'm not normally interested in news like this. If I'm being honest, I only look at the pictures in the paper and read news about celebs or Big Brother but this story really interested me and I thought I would share it with everyone. So here it is...click the link..

London Bombings

Today, I woke to see the news that London had been attacked

37 people dead, at this time but the count could rise. I've been watching all day and I still cant get my head around it. The images captured on mobile phones, TV cameras and eyewitness accounts are unbelieveable! I'm very very surprised that not more people died in this bombing. I cant even think of anything to type about it, which I find surprising. I always have something to comment with. I will say that I'm surprised this hasnt happened before but sitting and thinking about it...I don't know if it was a wake up call after the Olympics 2012 were announced as being held in London or if it was a thought out attack and it just so happened after the announcement. I would have thought that maybe something would have happened during the Live8 concert or even the summit held in Edinburgh, Scotland. God forbid if that did! The casualty count would be alot higher.
I'll probably comment on all this at a later date. Once I've read all the newspapers from tomorrow and some more things on the net
