It's a sad day in cyberland

Of all the millions and millions and millions of websites/games/blogs/porn out there in the www, I've come to the point where I'm so bored that I'm thinking of checking to see if I have any split hairs. This cant be good. I shouldn't be so bored with the vast amount of viewing just a few clicks away. Is this the point in my cyber life that I start to rethink connecting online? I THINK NOT. It just means more playing of yahoo games such as rocket mania and bounce out.

Now that I've visited all websites I like to frequent, replied to my message board, thought about replying to myspace (couldnt be arsed). I've now decided to make this understandable, yet useless post before I fix my chair, go pee, then make myself a cup of tea. See how I got that typed out to rhyme? Smart Scottish cookie here, I'll tell ya!

Before I leave/drag you into boredom along with me. I shall leave you with a parting piece of advice: If your mother ever buys a new mobile/cell, make sure she knows how it works before you leave her for the day. You might end up being called every 3 minutes and in my case, cursed at!
As you were!

Scary..

My sunday mornings are taken up with watching repeats of Big Brother, Eastenders, Charmed and Lost. While waiting inbetween shows, I get a chance to read a sunday newspaper. Most likely the News of the World because the sunday magazine has my fav crossword (and yes...the trashy stories that can be printed inside. I can hear you brits thinking that!). Upon reading the News of the World today, I came across a story that somewhat shocked me and then got me interested in reading more about it.

The story? Suicide chatrooms. Now, before anyone reading this runs off to tell their little friends on msn that I'm 'thinking about killing myself', get your story straight. The news article was about a girl, in the UK, who hanged herself in her bedroom. These days that's seems to be pretty popular. I've noticed it more since my mum's bf hanged himself anyway. It seems that this girl liked to visit a chatroom and talked to users who encouraged others to kill themselves. They even gave them tips on what way would be best. They have their own code of talk too. "Bus ride" is a slang for ending your life, and it seems it doesnt just stop with people in the UK. Australia have set new laws because of these sites, Japan have done the same. They have the highest count of suicides... ISP providers can even face death in other countries and all because of these chatrooms. Sounds outrageous to type that but that was in the news article (which I cant find)

I know the internet can be used to find whatever it is you want these days but it's scary to think that people actually sit in those chats and give tips to others that ends up with them taking their lives. Ministers in the UK are being urged to take charge and stop people from gaining access to these sites. The families of victims have told how other countries have stopped them..but you have to ask yourselfs...is it really as simple as that? Anyone, anywhere can open a chatroom, add a java link and advertise it amoungst people they know. Would it be classed as fighting a losing battle? I know one thing for sure. If someone wants to find something on the internet, they wont give up till they do and they'll find other ways and means to get what they want.

You can read a couple of stories I found from the guardian, dailymail and the bbc. If anyone reading this is having any thoughts like I've mentioned or something else they dont think they can cope with, please call your nearest support group. Samaritans in the UK and Australia are very helpful.

connection to cyber space

I've hopefully fixed my connection problems. The past while I've had problems connecting and when I do get on, I'm sometimes disconnected while trying to load a website. The error message I get is about my remote computer not connecting (I'm on sucky dial-up at the moment). I've managed to live with it but it all got too much lastnight and then today.

Spent about an hour trying to connect today. Got so pissed off that I jumped in the car and headed down to B&Q to buy a new connection lead for the phone socket. Seems to be working so far. Connected first time. I have 2 hours to wait and see if it's all cool (dial-up disconnects me every 2 hours) but so far, so good! Now I can think about the changes I want to make on the blog.

Are we hotornot?!

I would like to ask everyone who visits here to do me a huge favour. This blog is registered on blog hotornot and 10 people so far have voted our blog. I'd like to ask if all who visit here can click the blog hotornot button and take just 2 seconds to vote for us.

You can find the button on the left hand side (I did try adding it to this post but for some reason, I couldnt get it working)

It doesnt take long at all. Really, it's just 2 seconds. The link opens a small window at the top of the blog and you vote on there.

I'm begging all to vote for us. I know the blog design isnt fancy. I'm just learning how to do all this, so I would be ever so greatful if all visitors could help us out. Thanks

Very very pissed off...

First of all, my damn internet keeps dropping connection. I have broadband, and it usually has no problems. But for the last few days, I've been losing connection at around 6pm. I rang my service provider, they say its something to do with the phone exchange, or with the phone lines, but they can't get a maintenance person out until Tuesday. Which is bollocks I reckon.
Secondly, I got a virus on my computer today. Damn MSN virus. Its one of those ones that sends mass IM's to all your contacts that are online at the time. I'm not blaming the person who sent it to me, coz she didn't know what it did. It came up as a link, so stupid me, thinking she was sending me just a regular link, clicked on it, opened it. BAM, virus time. So it sent to everyone on my list who was online. I think a couple of people may have got caught out. Took me all damn afternoon to remove it, and still things are fucking up. But they're only minor problems. The major one is, my firewall is completely screwed. Lucky I have one I can use for backup.
So if you do happen to get this virus.. which is named ssms.exe DO NOT OPEN IT! It'll come in the form of a link, saying "Is this you?" with a link with your MSN address in it. If you do happen to accidentally have it, use something like SpyBot Search and Destroy to remove it.
Please be careful with ANYTHING you click on, or anything that is sent to you.

Google's Instant Messenger

Google talk

ok. so I got this yesterday and spent some time on it talking to someone. Here's my opinion on it....

It's aight! nah, the call opinion is cool and that's what I've spent most of the time on. It does cut off sometimes for no reason. It sometimes wont let me talk back to the person. Maybe that's because I'm on dial-up...I've not figured that out yet. That gets very annoying cause I end up talking to myself. It's really basic and it also doesnt tell you when someone has come online. Granted, at the moment, I only have 2 people on my list (I'm popular) but I'd like to know when a contact has either gone offline or come online. I don't feel like I'm asking for much. It also wont let you change backgrounds, font colour (that I know of), doesnt have emoticons and you cant have a display picture like on msn and yahoo and as far as I can tell, it doesnt log convos...the sounds are cool though and I dont mind them. On yahoo I did and switched them off.
It's just come out so I would think other things will be added over time..I'll stick it out and see how it goes. Just need to find others to add to my list
